The Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum of Natural History is excited to provide a unique experience in the Australian Outback. The Museum houses the largest collection of unique Australian dinosaur fossils and they're here for everyone to see. Our inspiring and educational tours take your group of visitors to the heart of the Museum, our Fossil Preparation Laboratory, Collection Room and Dinosaur Canyon. We discover and uncover dinosaur bones every day in our working Laboratory giving visitors a real dinosaur experience. Apart from dinosaurs, the Museum offers amazing views overlooking the black soil plains, the Cretaceous Café and a Museum Shop.

GROUP PACKAGES IN DETAIL 

Tours at the Museum are split between the Fossil Preparation Laboratory, the Reception Centre's Collection Room and Dinosaur Canyon. Group tour allocations are on the half hour eg 9.30am, 10.30am. View Our Tours for more information. 

TRANSFER DETAILS

It is approximately 500 metres between the Laboratory and the Collection Room. Your guests have the choice of being guided along a scenic walking track or transferring between buildings by bus. Timing 15 to 20 minutes.

Transfers from the Collection Room, at the Reception Centre to Dinosaur Canyon is by your coach captain accompanied by a Museum guide. Transfers to Dinosaur Canyon include interpretative tour of The Jump-Up. Timing 30 minutes return. 

Transfer to Dinosaur Stampede National Monument is by your coach captain or self-drive. Your tour guide will meet you at the attraction. Timing 2 hours. 

CATERING UPGRADES

Enjoy a cuppa with cake or a freshly-made sandwich from the Museum's Cretaceous Café, experience a good ol' Aussie BBQ or treat your guests to premium outback dining with the dinosaurs.

MORNING TEA OR AFTERNOON TEA Self-serve hot-water urn and a range of tea and coffee options. Timing 10 to 15 minutes.

LUNCH A deliciously fresh, seasonal fruit platter, assorted sandwiches, wraps and fresh fruit juice. Timing 20 to 30 minutes. 

DELUXE BBQ Relax and enjoy a typical Aussie Outback BBQ with the dinosaurs. The visit starts with a professional guided tour of the Museum's working Laboratory and Collection Room. After the tour it's time to unwind, grab a drink, enjoy some nibbles and watch the sun go down over the flat country. After the Outback sunset, settle in for a hearty BBQ feast under the stars while soaking up the amazing Outback lifestyle. 

Two-course meal consisting of shared antipasto platters, prime local meat, fresh salads, sliced Vienna bread, beer, ‘dinosaur’ wine and soft drink. Your guests will also receive a complimentary copy of the Museum’s latest AAOD Journal to take home.

OTHER INFORMATION Large groups will usually start at the Laboratory, where the dinosaur story begins. Please note that we are happy to arrange a specialised tour if you are short of time. 

NOTIFICATION REQUIREMENT For catering purposes, final numbers and dietary requirements must be confirmed two weeks prior to arrival. 

LOCATION The Museum is situated 24km south-east of Winton. Please allow 30 minutes for travel by coach from Winton or two hours from Longreach. The turn off to the Museum is 13km along the Landsborough Highway from Winton and then 11km along a sealed road. Find out more here.
